2,250 kanals of state land worth Rs55.7m retrieved

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Acting on the directions of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab, authorities have successfully retrieved 2,250 kanals of state land from illegal occupants, with the market value of the recovered property estimated at over Rs 55.7 million.

According to a spokesperson, the land, belonging to various government departments, had been unlawfully encroached upon, where unauthorized commercial shops were constructed. Despite repeated efforts by the departments concerned to vacate the land, the encroachments persisted.

Following a formal intervention by the Provincial Ombudsman Punjab, the matter was taken up on priority, leading to the retrieval of the land in accordance with the law.

Prior to the operation, proper demarcation of the property was carried out to ensure transparency and legal compliance.

The Ombudsman Punjab directed the authorities concerned to take strict preventive measures to ensure that the recovered land is not re-encroached in the future.

The action reflects the Ombudsman’s impartial and result-oriented approach in addressing complaints related to encroachments and misuse of public property.
