RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Murree carried out an early morning crackdown against substandard and adulterated milk here Saturday.
According to a spokesperson, the authorities checked a total of 5,390 litres of milk being transported in 20 vehicles.
During the inspection, 200 litres of milk were found to be substandard and adulterated with water, which was immediately discarded on the spot.
Further action was taken against violators, with a fine of Rs4,000 imposed on vehicle for supplying poor-quality milk.
Officials stated that daily inspections of milk-carrying vehicles are being conducted to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the public. Monitoring of the supply chain has also been tightened through checkpoints at various entry points.
The spokesperson reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced against adulteration mafias, adding that negligence or the distribution of substandard food would not be tolerated.
Citizens have been urged to report any food-related complaints to the PFA helpline (1223) for prompt action. Health experts warned that the consumption of adulterated milk can be highly harmful, potentially leading to stomach and liver diseases as well as other health complications. The public has been advised to purchase milk and other food items only from reliable sources.
The crackdown is part of the Punjab Food Authority’s ongoing province-wide campaign against food adulteration, with daily operations being conducted in various cities to ensure the availability of safe and quality food for consumers.
