24 suspects held, liquor, drugs, weapons recovered

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) The police have taken 24 suspects into custody during police operation carried out in different parts of the district and recovered liquor, drugs, and illegal weapons from their possession.

According to a spokesman for Bahawalpur police, under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab for a Punjab free from drugs and illegal weapons, and in light of the directives of the Inspector General of Police Punjab, the campaign launched by the district police against criminal elements.

“Police teams from City Ahmadpur East, Nowshera Jadeed, City Yazman, and Saddar Yazman police stations conducted effective operations and arrested seven suspects involved in liquor selling, recovering 158 liters of liquor from their possession,” he said, adding that similarly, tightening the noose around drug dealers, police from Kotwali, Civil Lines, Cantt, Saddar Bahawalpur, City Ahmadpur East, Uch Sharif, City Yazman, Saddar Yazman, Head Rajkan, Khairpur Tamewali, and Saddar Hasilpur police stations arrested 11 suspects and recovered three kilograms and 932 grams of hashish along with 290 grams of crystal meth (ice) from their possession.

Meanwhile, police from Kotwali, Abbas Nagar, Saddar Yazman, and Uch Sharif police stations took action against illegal weapons and arrested six suspects, recovering four pistols of 30 bore, one pistol of 9mm, and one revolver of 32 bore from them.

The police have registered separate cases against the suspects and launched investigation into them. Further probe was in process.
