250,000 matric students appear at 880 exam centres, Section 144 imposed

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) The Matric annual exams have started regularly across the province from Friday, in which more than 250,000 candidates are participating.

A total of 880 exam centers have been set up for conducting the exams, out of which 26 centers are being monitored by CCTV cameras to ensure transparency.

On the first day of the exams, papers of Arabic, Geography and History of Pakistan are being taken.

According to the authorities, Section 144 has been imposed in all exam centers and no unrelated person will be allowed to enter the exam centers.

Candidates are also being allowed to enter the examination hall only after verifying their identity.

As per the schedule, the last matriculation paper of Punjabi and Islamic History will be conducted on April 16, while the ninth grade exams will begin on April 17.

The administration says that strict steps have been taken to prevent cheating and make the examination system transparent so that a fair environment can be provided to the students.
