250 candidates being assessed on merit for appointment as education board chairpersons

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) Interviews for the appointment of chairpersons to education boards across Punjab are currently underway, with more than 250 candidates being evaluated under the direct supervision of Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.

According to sources, the minister is personally assessing candidates’ professional competence, with a particular focus on their understanding of modern technology and governance in education.

During the interviews, candidates are being asked to outline their top three priorities as prospective board heads, propose reforms for the examination system, and explain measures to ensure transparency and institutional autonomy.

They are also being questioned on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational processes, especially in marking systems and administrative functions, reflecting the government’s stress on technological integration in education.

Sources further said that Rana Sikandar Hayat has reiterated that the entire selection process is being conducted strictly on merit.
