The four injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or a possible motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police are searching for a second suspect after a shooting at the Seattle Center during a popular food festival left three people dead and four others injured, authorities said.

The gunfire erupted at about 6:01 p.m. Sunday as thousands of families attended the annual festival. Witnesses fled for safety, with some taking shelter inside Seattle’s landmark Space Needle.

Assistant Chief of Special Operations Tyrone Davis said investigators believe two people exchanged gunfire during the incident.

One suspect, described as a young person, surrendered to officers at the scene and was taken into custody, while the second suspect fled, prompting an ongoing manhunt.

Seven people suffered gunshot wounds in the attack. Three victims died, while the four survivors  including a 2-year-old boy  remain hospitalized in stable condition, Davis said. Officers also performed CPR on several victims before emergency medical teams arrived.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community, but the investigation remains active as detectives work to identify and locate the second suspect. Police have not yet determined whether any of the victims were innocent bystanders.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson described the shooting as “an unbelievable tragedy and a horrific act of violence,” and renewed calls for stronger efforts to address gun violence in Seattle and across the United States.
