4,875 criminals including 1,900 proclaimed offenders arrested in 2026

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) The police have arrested 4,875 alleged criminals including 1,900 proclaimed offenders during ongoing operations in 2026 and recovered stolen property, narcotics and illegal weapons worth millions of rupees from their possession.

Police spokesman Tariq Jatt said here on Wednesday that the district police conducted extensive operations across the district and apprehended more than 2,000 accused involved in heinous crimes including murder, attempted murder, robbery, dacoity and other serious offences.

He said that under the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar, the police intensified operations against criminal elements, resulting in the arrest of 4,875 accused persons so far. Among them, 1,900 were proclaimed offenders including 655 from Category-A and 1,245 from Category-B, who had been evading law enforcement.

He further revealed that during targeted actions against organized crime, the police busted 56 gangs and arrested their 146 active members. Stolen goods worth Rs 46.821 million were recovered from the arrested accused including 132 motorcycles, 16 mobile phones, jewelry, other valuables and 28 livestock animals.

In a separate crackdown against gambling and betting mafias, the police registered 238 cases and arrested 501 individuals involved in illegal activities. Cash amounting to Rs 2.552 million along with betting slips, cards and other gambling materials was seized from their possession.

Similarly, strict action was taken against drug dealers while the police registered 1,664 cases and arrested a large number of accused.

During these operations, the police recovered 646.197 kilograms of hashish, 45.842 kilograms of ice (crystal meth), 251.731 kilograms of heroin, 10.120 kilograms of opium, 278.790 kilograms of bhuki and 23,719 liters of liquor, he added.

He said that the police also continued their campaign against illegal weapons and registered 764 cases. The police recovered 654 pistols, 9 Kalashnikovs, 26 rifles, 26 guns, 30 repeaters, 4 carbines and a large quantity of bullets and cartridges from the accused, he added.
