6.4 miln cubic meters of water supplied to pilgrims in Makkah, holy sites

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Saudi Water Authority announced that more than 6.4 million cubic meters of water had been distributed in Makkah and the holy sites from the 1st to the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah during Hajj 1447 AH.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the massive water distribution operation was carried out under the operational plans of the Saudi water sector aimed at serving millions of pilgrims during the Hajj season.

The report said the Day of Tarwiyah alone recorded the distribution of more than 883,640 cubic meters of water as pilgrims moved towards the holy sites, reflecting the sector’s readiness to manage peak demand efficiently.

SPA told APP that technical and laboratory teams conducted 4,625 laboratory tests on the Day of Tarwiyah across operational sites to ensure water quality, safety and compliance with approved health standards.

Authorities said the water sector continues implementing integrated operational plans in coordination with relevant agencies to guarantee uninterrupted water supplies in Makkah and the holy sites.

The arrangements are aimed at enabling pilgrims to perform Hajj rituals comfortably and peacefully despite the large crowds and rising temperatures during the Hajj season.
