One killed, two injured as bus runs over people

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) A passenger was killed and two others suffered injuries when a passenger coach ran over people sitting at a resting area of the Motorway M-5 interchange in Uch town of the district.

According to Rescue 1122, a passenger bus traveling from Bajaur to Karachi stopped at a rest area near the Uch Motorway Interchange, where the bus crew and passengers got off to have a meal at a restaurant. “After the meal, an inexperienced conductor attempted to move the bus forward to straighten its position,” they said, adding that however, when the bus started moving, he lost control and instead of applying the brake, he accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the bus to surge forward and run over passengers who were sitting on charpoys in front of the hotel.

They further said that as a result of the incident, three people were affected. One of them later died, and another was shifted to an area hospital with serious injuries. However, the third person suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene with first aid.

Rescue staff shifted the deceased's body to the Rural Health Centre(RHC) Uch. The police have started investigating.
