LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) The Lahore Development Programme, launched under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is progressing steadily, with Phase-I completed and 66 per cent
work of Phase-II already accomplished.
These details were revealed during a review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner
Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz, here on Sunday. The meeting was attended by ADC Finance,
officials of the Central Operations Management Cell (COMCIL), all Assistant Commissioners,
and representatives of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and National Engineering
Services Pakistan (NESPAK). The participants were briefed that a total of 5,774 streets
had so far been completed, while work was ongoing on 2,156 streets under Phase-II,
with construction on another 850 streets set to commence soon.
Addressing the meeting, DC Muhammad Ali Ijaz directed the authorities concerned,
including NESPAK and Engineering Consultancy Services Punjab (ECSP), to ensure
effective quality checks and strict adherence to standards. He emphasized that all
development works must be carried out in line with safety protocols.
The DC said that there would be no compromise on quality, timelines and transparency,
adding that the projects should be durable and beneficial for the public in the long term.
He further stressed that timely completion of the programme in accordance with set
targets must be ensured to facilitate citizens and improve urban infrastructure.
