68th annual three-day flower exhibition concludes in Mirpurkhas; Bhittai Dental College tops competition

MIRPURKHAS, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) The vibrant closing ceremony of the 68th Annual Three-Day Flower Exhibition on Tuesday was held at the Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed sports Complex, where Bhittai Dental College secured first place, followed by the Horticulture Research Institute in second and Public school Mirpurkhas in third. Organized by the Municipal Corporation Mirpurkhas, the exhibition attracted large crowds and showcased over 250 exquisite flower varieties, along with cultural displays and art competitions.

Provincial Minister for Tourism and Culture, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, lauded the event as a commendable initiative, noting that it revived Mirpurkhas’ vibrancy while offering enjoyable recreational opportunities to the public. He also announced plans for a Literature Festival, the activation of the Arts Council, and enhanced cultural tourism, including the recently launched Thar Safari Train and a new service to Mohenjo-daro.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for STEVTA, Junaid Baloch, highlighted that the exhibition aimed not only to celebrate floral beauty but also to raise awareness about flower cultivation.

Mayor Abdul Rauf Ghori and Deputy Mayor Sameera Baloch praised the exhibition for promoting culture and providing a recreational platform for citizens, while former MNA Shamim Ara Panhwar emphasized its educational and inspirational value.

Numerous competitions recognized talent and creativity: Muhammad Hamza won first prize in the flower identification contest, Hafsa topped the flower naming event, and all participating artists in the Art Gallery category received cash prizes. In institutional awards, Bhittai Dental College earned Rs. 60,000 and a trophy, Horticulture Research Institute Rs. 40,000, and Mir Sher Muhammad Khan Public School Rs. 30,000. House and cultural stall participants were also duly rewarded, reflecting the exhibition’s comprehensive celebration of horticulture, artistry, and local culture.
