Faisalabad Police have finalized a comprehensive security plan for the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram by deploying more than 8,000 officers and personnel to secure 163 Majalis and 246 mourning processions across the district

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Faisalabad Police have finalized a comprehensive security plan for the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram by deploying more than 8,000 officers and personnel to secure 163 Majalis and 246 mourning processions across the district.

Police spokesman Tariq Jutt said here on Wednesday that City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain had issued the security plan to ensure peaceful and secure observance of Ashura. He said that police would provide comprehensive security to all religious gatherings, while officers had been directed to remain vigilant throughout the sensitive period. He said that the authorities would install walk-through gates at entry and exit points of Majalis and mourning processions while the police would conduct body searches of participants through metal detectors before allowing entry.

He said that the police would closely monitor entry points, imambargahs and procession routes through CCTV cameras to maintain effective surveillance and respond promptly to any suspicious activity.

Elite Force and Dolphin Force teams would accompany the main processions and conduct continuous patrolling in city areas, he added.

He said that police had also prepared an alternative traffic plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and minimize inconvenience to commuters during the processions. He said that reserve contingents would remain available at Police Lines, police stations and the Women Police Station to respond immediately to any emergency.

Faisalabad Police remained fully committed to preserving peace and maintaining law and order during Muharram, he added.
