ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The Traffic Police Abbottabad Wednesday has decided to further expand the scope of its digital registration initiative under the “Pehchan” application, aiming to improve urban transport management and road safety across the city.
On the directions of SSP Traffic Abbottabad, Muhammad Ishtiaq, the campaign has entered its second phase. Following the successful registration of motorcycle riders in the first phase, authorities have now begun registering locally operated carry “Dabba” vehicles used as taxis into the Pehchan system.
As part of the ongoing drive, SSP Traffic Muhammad Ishtiaq visited multiple locations to personally review the registration process of these public service vehicles. During the visits, he issued on-the-spot instructions to ensure transparency, efficiency, and smooth implementation of the initiative.
The Traffic Police has formally launched a city-wide campaign, under which all motorcycles and public service vehicles operating at the local level will be gradually brought into the digital database. Officials stated that the move is aimed at organizing the transport sector, enhancing passenger safety, and ensuring a swift response in case of emergencies or untoward incidents.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Traffic Muhammad Ishtiaq emphasized that the integration of modern technology into traffic management is the need of the hour.
He noted that the Pehchan application will play a vital role in establishing a safer, more organized, and accountable transport system. He also urged citizens and transporters to fully cooperate with the authorities for the success of the campaign.
In a parallel initiative, the Traffic Police has introduced special facilitation measures for motorcycle riders associated with the Bykea service. On the directives of SSP Traffic, arrangements have been made for riders who have not yet obtained driving licenses.
Such riders can visit the Pehchan App office with their learner’s permits, where they will undergo an on-the-spot driving test during the registration process. Successful candidates will be issued driving licenses immediately, streamlining the legal compliance process for gig-based transport workers.
Officials said the initiative is designed to assist Bykea riders in meeting legal requirements while simultaneously improving traffic discipline in Abbottabad. The Traffic Police reaffirmed its commitment to introducing modern, citizen-friendly measures to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services in the city.
