AC Paharpur arrests retailer over BISP, Ramazan package deductions

Dera Ismail Khan, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2026) Acting on public complaints, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Paharpur Dr Hamid conducted surprise visits to several retailers and cash centers involved in disbursing funds under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Ramazan Package to ensure transparent payments to beneficiaries.

During the inspection, complaints were received that some retailers were allegedly using private individuals to process payments and making unauthorized deductions from the amounts allocated to deserving beneficiaries.

The AC verified the complaints on the spot and found a BISP retailer at Dhothar Adda involved in illegal deductions. The retailer was immediately arrested and shifted to custody while legal proceedings were initiated against him.

On the occasion, the AC directed the officials of the BISP to ensure strict monitoring of retailers, stating that it was the responsibility of the concerned department to prevent irregularities in the payment process.

He added that the district administration would extend full cooperation to ensure transparency in the distribution of funds under both the BISP and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Ramazan Package.

Dr Hamid emphasized that any deduction from the funds meant for deserving beneficiaries would not be tolerated and directed the relevant authorities to take immediate action on complaints against retailers to save beneficiaries from unnecessary hardship and inconvenience.
