Action warned on negligence in healthcare system

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia has warned that stern action will be taken against those found involved in negligence in provision of healthcare to patients at state-run hospitals.

According to an official press release issued here, Kathia paid a surprise visit to Maryam Nawaz Hospital Lal Sohanra and conducted a detailed inspection of its various departments. He reviewed the medical facilities, cleanliness arrangements, and the services being provided to patients.

On this occasion, the Commissioner directed that the provision of the best and timely medical facilities to patients must be ensured at all costs.

He emphasized special attention to the availability of medicines and staff attendance, clearly stating that any negligence or lapse in treatment would not be tolerated.

The Commissioner also stressed the immediate resolution of patients’ complaints and the need to ensure better service delivery so that the public can have access to quality healthcare facilities.

During the visit, Director Health Services Dr. Syed Tanveer Shah and other hospital staff were also present.
