ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and National Highway Authority (NHA) on Tuesday signed an agreement to develop two sections of the M6 Hyderabad–Sukkur Motorway under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model.
ADB Country Director for Pakistan Emma Fan and Member PPP NHA Ijaz Ahmed signed the agreement, which was witnessed by Member Planning NHA, Dr. Shafeeq Ahmad; ADB Deputy Country Director, Syed Hussain Haider and Director, Advisory Division 1, OMDP ADB, Mohammed Azim Hashimi.
The project will connect the missing link in Pakistan’s North-South high speed road connectivity, streamline logistics, reduce travel time, and strengthen trade flows across the country, ADB post on X.
ADB will provide advisory support covering project feasibility studies, developing a bankable PPP structure facilitating transparent procurement processes to attract private sector expertise, achieving commercial and financial closure.
The project includes building a 120km six-lane motorway with modern tolling, traffic management, and safety systems starting from Hyderabad. It’s a critical step toward completing the Peshawar–Karachi Motorway corridor, it added.
