Advanced endoscopic equipment donated to LGH ENT Department

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The donation of advanced endoscopic equipment to the ENT department of Lahore General Hospital by the Society of Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery (SORESS) marks a significant step toward integrating modern technology into the hospital’s clinical framework.

This was stated by Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal in a statement issued on Wednesday.

During a briefing, Head of ENT Unit I Dr. Amer Ayub and Head of ENT Unit II Dr. Muhammad Ilyas informed that the instruments were donated by SORESS in recognition of the department’s professional excellence and the successful organization of the International Rhinoplasty Workshop held during the RhinoCon conference last year. The ceremony was attended by Medical Superintendent Lahore General Hospital Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain, along with young doctors and healthcare professionals.

Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said that the availability of modern endoscopic technology will significantly enhance diagnostic and treatment standards. He added that complex skull base surgeries can now be performed with greater precision, improved safety, and reduced discomfort for patients, bringing substantial relief to those requiring specialized care.

He further emphasized that acquiring state-of-the-art medical equipment and training young surgeons in modern techniques remain top priorities for PGMI and Amir-ud-Din Medical College. He noted that such advancements ensure that the benefits of medical progress reach the general public, making quality healthcare more accessible. He also appreciated the collaboration between educational institutions and medical organizations, stating that it plays a vital role in improving professional training for junior doctors and ensuring modern healthcare facilities for citizens.
