GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) The Punjab government has launched the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” programme on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to provide employment opportunities and promote agriculture among landless farmers and rural youth across the province.
According to official sources, under the programme, landless individuals will be allotted three to 10 acres of state-owned agricultural land on a 10-year lease through a balloting process. The lease fee has been fixed at Rs100 per acre per year.
The sources said successful applicants would also receive a one-time grant of Rs50,000 per acre to help cover initial farming expenses.In the first phase, around 50,000 families are expected to benefit, while 250,000 acres of land will be distributed across the province in phases.
The programme also includes agricultural training, provision of quality seeds, modern farming machinery and market access to help farmers adopt improved farming methods.
Interested applicants can submit online applications from May 2 to May 18, 2026 through the official portal. Special help desks have also been established at assistant commissioners’ offices for guidance and facilitation.
The district administration in Gujrat said the programme would help strengthen the rural economy, increase agricultural production and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for farmers.
