MUZAFFARABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) The Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly on Monday approved more than Rs 262 billion budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, earmarking Rs 32 billion for the Annual Development Programme (ADP).
Finance Minister AJK, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed presented the budget during a Legislative Assembly session presided over by Speaker AJK assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar.
The finance minister told the House that tax and non-tax revenue income for the coming fiscal year had been estimated at Rs 262 billion, while current expenditures were also estimated at the same amount.
He said Rs 32 billion allocated for the ADP would be provided by the Government of Pakistan.
Following the Federal budget announcement, the finance minister also announced a seven percent increase in the salaries of government employees.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Elaborating on the government's priorities, he said that 31 percent of the development budget had been allocated for the social sector, 12 percent for the productive sector, while 57 percent had been allocated for communication and road infrastructure.
He said more than Rs 26 billion had been allocated for ongoing development schemes, while nearly Rs nine billion had been allocated for new development schemes.
Soon after the budget speech, the Legislative Assembly approved the budget for the next fiscal year and the revised estimates for the current fiscal year on the motion of the finance minister, without any debate, by suspending the relevant Rules of business of the Assembly.
