MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th May, 2026) Like the rest of the country, Azad Jammu and Kashmir observed the 28th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer with patriotic enthusiasm and renewed commitment to national unity, defence, and progress, commemorating Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998.
Special ceremonies and gatherings were held across various parts of AJK, including Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalakot, where speakers paid tribute to the national leadership, scientists, and armed forces for making Pakistan the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first Islamic nuclear state. Participants reiterated their resolve to safeguard every inch of the motherland and continue supporting the country’s defence institutions.
Speakers recalled that Pakistan conducted nuclear tests in Chagai on May 28, 1998, in response to India’s nuclear explosions carried out days earlier, which they said had disturbed the strategic balance in South Asia.

Addressing a ceremony in Mirpur, political and social leaders, including Chaudhry Munir Hussain, termed Youm-e-Takbeer a symbol of national dignity, sovereignty, and strength. They stressed that a strong and prosperous Pakistan was essential for the freedom and stability of Jammu and Kashmir and affirmed that the people of AJK stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan for the defence and security of the country.
