MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Saturday inaugurated a major water supply project worth Rs 231 million in the remote town of Kharak during his first official visit to Mirpur.
The project, launched in the Kharak area located on the outskirts of the Mangla Dam lake region, is aimed at improving access to clean drinking water for local residents and addressing long-standing shortages in the area.
According to officials, the scheme will provide water connections to around 19,000 households in Kharak, significantly improving public health and basic living conditions in the remote settlement.
Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude to the AJK government, praising efforts to deliver essential services to underserved communities and improve infrastructure in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of people, workers, and government representatives, including ministers Chaudhry Arshad Hussain, Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni, and Adviser Sardar Fahad Yaqoob, who accompanied the prime minister during the visit.
