Albee’s 'The Zoo Story' staged at NAPA

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) The NAPA Repertory Festival of the National academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) staged an urdu adaptation of Edward Albee’s acclaimed debutant play "The Zoo Story" on Wednesday at its Zia Mohyeddin Theater.

The one-act play is considered an absurd theater classic even though when it was written, the American playwright could not find a stage for it in his home country. But later it became a world hit.

At NAPA, adapted and directed by Babar Ali, the play has Syed Arsalan as Jerry, a depressed person desperate to share his life stories with anybody, and Zubair Baloch as Peter, a settled regular guy with a wife, two daughters, two cats, and two parakeets. Their interaction is considered among the most iconic dialogues written in the 20th century.

A sizeable audience watched and appreciated the play.

The play would continue for a day on Thursday. NAPA’s festival will run till 23rd of May.
