Arid University launches cleanliness awareness drive

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) A cleanliness awareness campaign was organized at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (OMAS-AUR), with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman leading the drive.

Faculty members, administrative officers, staff and students participated in the campaign in large numbers, according to the university administration here on Wednesday.

Addressing the participants, the vice chancellor said a clean environment was essential for good health and reflected a responsible and civilised society. He said the university was not only a centre of education but also of character-building and social responsibility.

He urged students to make cleanliness part of their daily routine and take the lead in maintaining hygiene across classrooms, corridors and all areas of the campus.

The vice chancellor appreciated the participation of faculty and administrative staff, saying their involvement demonstrated the university’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and social responsibility alongside academic excellence.

During the campaign, participants toured the campus and collected waste including plastic bags, empty juice packs and other litter to help clean the environment.
