Ashab Irfan joins Noor Zaman in 2nd round of PSA World Championships

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th May, 2026) Pakistan’s rising squash player Muhammad Ashab Irfan produced a stunning performance to advance to the second round of the CIB Palm Hills PSA World Championships 2026 after defeating Switzerland’s Nicolas Mueller, the other day.

World No. 46 Ashab outclassed World No. 28 Nicolas Mueller in straight games, winning 3-0 with scores of 13-11, 11-9 and 11-0 in a commanding 30-minute first-round encounter.

With the victory, Ashab joined fellow Pakistani star Noor Zaman in the second round of the prestigious championship, keeping Pakistan’s hopes alive in the mega event.

Ashab displayed remarkable control, attacking play and composure throughout the match, particularly in the third game where he completely dominated his higher-ranked opponent without conceding a single point.

He is now set to face either England’s Marwan ElShorbagy, World No. 9, or Nathan Lake, World No. 49, in the second round on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Noor Zaman, currently ranked World No. 28, will take on Egypt’s Muhammad Zakaria, World No. 8, in his second-round clash also scheduled for Sunday.
