Ashura security tightened in Faisalabad: DC

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (retired) Nadeem Nasir said that the district administration and police had further strengthened security and administrative arrangements for Ashura, as the occasion coincides with Juma prayers.

He along with City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain was chairing a meeting of District Peace Committee here on Thursday.

The deputy commissioner said that provision of a peaceful and secure environment to mourners on Ashura was the foremost priority of the district administration.

He said that all relevant departments had been directed to remain fully alert and ensure effective coordination for peaceful observance of the day.

He appreciated the role of religious scholars and members of the District Peace Committee in maintaining law and order during the first nine days of Muharram-ul-Haram.

He urged religious scholars to promote the message of unity, brotherhood and national cohesion from mosques, Imambargahs and Majalis.

He asked them to maintain close coordination with the district administration and police for ensuring peace and religious harmony.

The deputy commissioner also called upon scholars and citizens to play a responsible role in preventing the spread of rumors and provocative material, saying that timely reporting of suspicious activities and misleading content was vital for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.

CPO Tanveer Hussain said that the police had made comprehensive security arrangements for Ashura and would remain on high alert to protect Majalis, mourning processions and other religious gatherings.

He said that police officers and personnel would perform duties at sensitive locations, procession routes and other important points, while close coordination would be maintained with the district administration, peace committee members and organizers.

The meeting stressed that all sections of society must play their positive role in promoting peace, tolerance and brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The participants reaffirmed their resolve to support the administration and police in preserving peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony in the district.
