Ashura teaches courage against oppression, upholding justice: Shafay Hussain

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce and Auqaf Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Thursday said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions rendered unparalleled sacrifices to uphold truth and righteousness, setting an enduring example of courage and steadfastness for humanity.

In his special message on the occasion of Ashura, the minister said the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala had preserved the universal principles of islam and inspired oppressed people across the world to stand firm against tyranny and injustice.

He said the message of Ashura was to remain steadfast in the face of oppression and to uphold the banner of truth and justice under all circumstances. "True success lies in defending justice, righteousness and moral values," he added.

Shafay Hussain said the tragedy of Karbala also imparted lessons of patience, tolerance, sacrifice and selflessness. He stressed the need to promote the values of brotherhood, mutual respect and forbearance in society.

The minister appealed to religious scholars and all segments of society to uphold the sanctity of Ashura by promoting peace, harmony and national unity. He urged citizens to fully observe the code of conduct and cooperate with security agencies to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.

He also called upon the people to offer special prayers for the country's progress, prosperity and security.

Referring to Muharram arrangements, the minister said the Punjab government, under the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, had made enhanced arrangements compared to previous years and ensured foolproof security and improved facilities for mourners.

He said security and administrative arrangements were being continuously monitored through the Central Control Room with the help of digital technology.

Shafay Hussain urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, adding that the nation would foil the designs of elements seeking to disrupt peace through unity and collective resolve.
