ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jun, 2026) Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) is planning to introduce a comprehensive digital surgery management system aimed at making surgical services more transparent, efficient, and patient-friendly.
The initiative is designed to streamline all stages of the surgical process, from outpatient consultation to operation scheduling, ensuring timely and hassle-free treatment for patients.
An important briefing on the proposed IT-based system was held in the office of Hospital Director Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Afridi. Engineer Shahryar Ali presented the proposed framework, highlighting various features of the system, including surgery booking, operation scheduling, and digital patient record management.
The briefing was attended by Dean and CEO Prof. Dr. Irfanuddin Khattak, Hospital Director Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Afridi, Medical Director Dr. Imran Khan, and chairpersons of various departments.
Participants were informed that patients recommended for surgery after examination in the Outpatient Department (OPD) would be registered online through a dedicated Surgery Booking Office. The system will provide patients with immediate information regarding their surgery date and time, while notifications will also be sent to their registered mobile numbers.

The briefing also covered online portals, access controls for surgeons and staff, digital forms, reporting mechanisms, and monitoring tools that will support the system's implementation.
Departmental chairpersons termed the initiative a major step forward in improving patient facilitation and institutional efficiency. They expressed confidence that the use of modern information technology would strengthen service delivery and help establish a more organized healthcare environment.
The hospital administration reiterated its commitment to providing quality, timely, and accessible healthcare services in line with the vision of the board of Governors and modern medical standards. Officials emphasized that the adoption of digital technologies would not only benefit patients but also improve the overall administrative and operational performance of the hospital.
