Auqaf Secy visits Sufi shrines, reviews facilities and development work

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Secretary of the Punjab Government and Chief Administrator Auqaf, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, paid visits to prominent Sufi shrines in Multan, including the mausoleums of Shah Shams Tabriz, Bahauddin Zakariya, Shah Rukn-e-Alam, and Musa Pak Shaheed. During his visit, he offered Fateha and prayed for the country’s prosperity and stability.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhutta highlighted that the timeless teachings of great Sufi saints promote spiritual enlightenment, compassion, peace, and global harmony. He emphasized that their message continues to guide humanity towards unity and tolerance.

At the shrine of Bahauddin Zakariya, the Secretary reviewed facilities including a water filtration plant and the complaints register. He directed officials to ensure maximum convenience for visitors and improve service delivery standards.

Dr. Bhutta further instructed authorities to take all necessary measures for prompt resolution of public issues and enhancement of services. He also inspected the progress of the new Zonal Administrator (ZA) office and Langar Khana, being constructed under the supervision of the Walled City of Lahore Authority, and ordered that the projects be completed within two months in accordance with approved PC-1 specifications.

During his visit to the shrines of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Musa Pak Shaheed, he reviewed ongoing development projects and directed that all works be completed within six months, strictly adhering to approved standards of quality and quantity. He particularly stressed the priority completion of ablution (wuzu) areas and facilities within two months to facilitate pilgrims.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Dr. Bhutta said providing modern, clean, and dignified facilities to visitors remains a top priority of the Auqaf Department. He added that the Punjab government is determined to preserve and promote the spiritual and cultural heritage of Sufi shrines, recognizing them as enduring symbols of peace, tolerance, and unity.

Senior officials of the Auqaf Department and project authorities were also present and briefed the Secretary on the progress of ongoing development initiatives.
