LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Ambassador of Austria to Pakistan, Mr. Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera, Thursday appreciated Pakistan’s growing role on the global stage as a peacemaker, stating that the country’s constructive diplomatic efforts are gaining international recognition. He noted that Pakistan’s re-emergence with a positive global image, coupled with its large market and strategic importance, offers significant opportunities for enhanced economic cooperation.
The Ambassador shared these views while addressing business community here at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. where LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol warmly welcomed the Austrian Ambassador and the distinguished delegation.
The meeting was also attended by Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, Vice President Khurram Lodhi, Austrian Commercial Counsellor Johannes Brunner, Usman Mohiuddin from the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy, Honorary Consul of Austria Sarmad Amin, Executive Committee Members Shouban Akhtar, Abdul Majeed, Firdous Nisar, Asif Malik, Chaudhry Mohsin Bashir, Irfan Ahmed Qureshi, Syed Salman Ali, Ahad Amin Malik, Ali Imran, and Zain Elahi. Honorary Consul Sarmad Amin, Raja Umar Nawaz, and representatives of leading Austrian companies, along with members of the Lahore business community.
In his welcome address, LCCI President said that the visit of the Austrian Ambassador reflects the strong and friendly relations between Pakistan and Austria and demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing economic cooperation and strengthening business linkages.
He highlighted that Pakistan offers vast business opportunities in sectors such as textiles, agriculture, information technology, renewable energy, engineering, pharmaceuticals, and tourism, while Austria is known for its advanced technology, innovation, and high-quality industrial products. He said that both countries can benefit significantly by leveraging each other’s strengths.
Saigol said that the Chamber has established a dedicated “Austria Pakistan Business Council” to promote bilateral trade, facilitate business contacts, and serve as a bridge between the private sectors of the two countries.
He expressed confidence that this platform will play a key role in ensuring long-term collaboration.
He also encouraged Austrian investors to explore Pakistan as an attractive destination, highlighting its large consumer market, strategic geographical location, and young workforce. He also appreciated the government’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business and facilitate foreign investment.
In his detailed remarks, Ambassador Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera emphasized the importance of diversifying trade relations and supply chains in the current global environment marked by uncertainty. He also underlined that business-to-business (B2B) engagement and institutional linkages are essential to unlock the full potential of bilateral ties. He expressed optimism that Austria and Pakistan can expand cooperation in multiple sectors and achieve tangible results in the coming years.
He reiterated that Austria values its economic relations with Pakistan and noted that Austrian companies are increasingly exploring opportunities in the country. He mentioned that Austria was strongly represented at the recent EU-Pakistan High-Level Business Forum, which reflects the growing interest among European businesses.
He also pointed out that trade dynamics between the two countries could be further examined to identify untapped potential, particularly in sectors such as textiles, industrial goods, and technology. He expressed Austria’s willingness to expand exports to Pakistan while continuing to import quality products from Pakistani industries.
The Ambassador assured full support from the Austrian Embassy and trade offices to facilitate business linkages, encouraging continued engagement through joint events, business delegations, and institutional cooperation. He expressed hope that during his tenure, both countries would witness concrete progress in trade and investment relations.
