Awareness seminar on drugs conducted

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) An awareness seminar was organised in collaboration with the Government Associate College for Women, Chak 75 South District Sargodha and Punjab Counter Narcotics Force Sargodha Division, with the aim of making the young generation aware of the deadly effects of drugs and promoting the vision of a “drug-free, healthy and safe Punjab”.

The seminar was attended by the Director Punjab Counter Narcotics Force Sargodha Division, Lt. Col. (retd) Jawad Masood as the chief guest, while the Principal of the college, Dr. Mrs. Rabia Ishaq, faculty members, staff and a large number of students. In his address, Lt. Col. (retd) Jawad Masood termed the growing trend of drugs as a very serious social challenge and said that millions of people in Pakistan are victims of this scourge, a large number of whom are youth.

He said that this problem is not limited to one individual but affects the entire family and society, therefore, joint and serious efforts are indispensable to address it. He added that the war on drugs is no less than a battlefield, as it is having the greatest impact on the young generation.

“We have to secure the future of our youth and save them from this destructive path.” He stressed that mere legislation is not enough, but this challenge can be met only by awareness, guidance, positive activities and strengthening the role of educational institutions.

Lt. Col. (retd) Jawad Masood urged the students to adopt positive thinking instead of succumbing to negative peer pressure and play a role in saving their friends from evil. He said that instead of isolating drug addicts from the society, it is the responsibility of all of us to help them in their rehabilitation so that they can become useful citizens again.

Principal Dr. Mrs. Rabia Ishaq said that the role of educational institutions is very important in building the character of students and through such seminars, awareness is being created among the female students so that they can stay safe from the scourge of drugs.

At the end of the ceremony, the commitment of “Drug-Free Punjab” was reiterated and it was emphasized that collective efforts will continue to create a safe, healthy and drug-free society.
