HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam Dr Altaf Ali Siyal inaugurated a renovated modern biotechnology laboratory aimed at strengthening advanced research in agriculture and life sciences.
Following the inauguration, the vice chancellor visited different sections of the laboratory and reviewed the available facilities and ongoing work. He was briefed by Chairperson of the department Dr Shehla Baloch, who outlined the lab’s scope and technical capabilities including plant tissue culture, molecular biology and genetic analysis.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Siyal emphasised the growing importance of biotechnology in addressing challenges related to food security, environmental sustainability and agricultural productivity.
He said the university was committed to providing modern research infrastructure and promoting innovation among students and faculty.
Dr Shehla Baloch said the facility would enable students and researchers to undertake quality research in key areas such as crop improvement, disease management and climate-resilient agriculture. She noted that tissue culture technology, in particular, would help in the rapid multiplication of disease-free plants and conservation of important plant resources.
Among those present were Dr. Aijaz Hussain Soomro, Dr. Shahnawaz Mari, Dr. Allah Wadhayo Gandahi, Dr. Muhammad Saleem Sarki, Dr. Aijaz Ali Soomro, Dr. Qamaruddin Jogi and other faculty members and officials.
