BTS open ARIRANG world tour with historic night in Mexico city

BTS turned Mexico City into a breathtaking sea of light, emotion, and pure euphoria as the global superstars launched the opening night of their highly anticipated “ARIRANG” World Tour with a spectacular celebration of music, memories, and an unforgettable bond with Mexican ARMY.

More than 50,000 fans packed GNP Seguros Stadium, transforming the massive venue into a dazzling ocean of synchronized light sticks as Bangtan made their long-awaited return to Mexico. From the very first moment the atmosphere was electric a night charged with anticipation, nostalgia and overwhelming affection.

One of the evening’s most powerful moments came when V addressed the crowd in Spanish instantly sending the stadium into an emotional frenzy.

“I learned a little Spanish. I want to tell you in Spanish how happy I am right now,” he said before adding, “First of all, I miss ARMY Mexico so much. I love ARMY Mexico so much. So, I hope you love me a lot, too.”

His heartfelt words were met with thunderous cheers as thousands of fans responded with deafening screams turning the stadium into a chorus of love and devotion.

The emotional connection continued throughout the night as other BTS members also made heartfelt efforts to speak directly to local fans in their own language.

Jimin reading carefully prepared Spanish phrases from his mobile phone, charmed the audience with his sincerity. “You listen to our songs a lot, right?” he asked before continuing, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I didn’t know you’d be this amazing here. You really know how to have fun. You’re the best. I love you more than anyone.”

His touching message quickly became one of the most unforgettable highlights of the evening.

Earlier in the night, Jungkook ignited the crowd with a simple but powerful promise: “It’s the first night here. Let’s make it worth it.”

Even before the show began, excitement had already swept across social media when j-hope posted a playful video wearing a cowboy hat while “Tu Sancho” by Fuerza Regida played in the background. Mexican fans instantly embraced the moment, flooding social platforms with affectionate reactions and declaring, “Hobi, brother, you’re already Mexican.”

The concert burst into life with dynamic performances of “Hooligan,” “Aliens,” “they don’t know ’bout us,” “Like Animals,” “SWIM,” and “Merry Go Round.” Every lyric echoed across the stadium as tens of thousands of voices sang in perfect unison.

Throughout the night synchronized light sticks pulsed to every beat, creating a mesmerizing visual spectacle across the enormous 360-degree stadium stage.

In one especially symbolic moment, BTS recreated imagery inspired by the South Korean flag across the stage production a moving tribute to their homeland and a powerful reflection of the cultural pride that continues to shape their global identity. The tribute was met with roaring applause as fans celebrated not only the group’s music but the worldwide influence of Korean culture.

The energy rose even higher as BTS launched into explosive performances of “FYA,” “Fire,” “Body to Body,” and “IDOL.”

During the set, the members made a celebratory lap around the stadium carrying flags and interacting closely with fans, while dancers filled every corner of the massive stage. Thousands of concertgoers captured the emotional scenes on their phones as Bangtan soaked in the thunderous atmosphere.

Then came one of the night’s most nostalgic turns.

BTS surprised the audience with special performances of “Boy In Luv” and “So What,” triggering an outpouring of emotion across the stadium. Fans were seen cheering, crying, and singing every word together  a powerful reminder of the years of memories shared between Bangtan and ARMY.

But the celebration stretched far beyond the stadium walls.

Outside the venue, thousands of fans without tickets gathered in nearby streets, dancing and singing along to the music echoing from inside. Fireworks lit up the Mexico City sky while light sticks flashed among the crowds outside, proving that BTS’s impact extended well beyond the official audience.

Closing the night with global hits including “Dynamite,” “Please,” and “Into the Sun,” BTS once again paused to thank Mexican ARMY for their overwhelming love and support.

RM captured the emotion of the night perfectly, telling the crowd: “Mexican ARMY are always the most passionate. Thanks to you, I was very happy today.”

With two more sold-out nights still to come in Mexico City before the ARIRANG World Tour continues, BTS did far more than open a concert.
