KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jun, 2026) A book chronicling the life, struggles and journalistic contributions of late senior journalist Imam Bux alias Zulf Pirzado was formally launched at a ceremony held at the Pakistan Arts Council Karachi the other day.
The book, titled "Bheej Bhini Bhaana", has been compiled by Khalida Zulf, the widow of the late journalist, as a tribute to his life and legacy. The launching ceremony was organized by the Lok Virsa Committee of the Arts Council Karachi and was attended by a large number of senior journalists, literary personalities, writers, intellectuals and civil society representatives.
Speakers at the event paid glowing tributes to Zulf Pirzado, recalling his contributions to journalism, literature and progressive politics. They described him as a committed journalist, writer and social activist who devoted his life to promoting democratic values and raising public issues through responsible journalism.
Addressing the gathering, Khalida Zulf, Zarar Pirzado, Rehmat Pirzado, Sindhu Sattar, Marvi Palejo, Mahesh Kumar, Dr Ayub Shaikh, Dr Masroor and other speakers highlighted various aspects of the late journalist's life and career. They said the book contains articles and reflections written by his friends, fellow journalists, political associates and admirers, providing a comprehensive account of his personal and professional journey.
The speakers noted that Zulf Pirzado initially remained associated with left-wing politics before entering the field of journalism, where he worked with several Sindhi-language newspapers and earned recognition for his professional integrity and commitment to public-interest reporting.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He later served as Deputy Editor of the Karachi-based Sindhi daily Awami Awaz and played a significant role in the development of regional journalism.
According to the speakers, the publication covers all major phases of Pirzado's life, including his childhood, student activism, political involvement and more than three decades of journalistic service. The book comprises 94 articles along with selected poetry of the late journalist, offering readers an in-depth understanding of his personality, thoughts and contributions.
They said the compilation serves not only as a biographical record but also as a valuable document for students of journalism and those interested in Sindh's literary, political and media history.
The speakers also lauded the efforts of Khalida Zulf and her daughter Virsa Zulf Pirzado for compiling and publishing the book. They termed the publication a meaningful tribute to a journalist who dedicated his life to the profession and left a lasting impact on colleagues and readers alike.
Zulf Pirzado passed away in January 2024. Participants observed that through this book, his memories, writings and professional achievements would continue to inspire future generations.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the distinguished guests formally launched the book and congratulated the compiler and her family on the publication of the work.
