CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to review preparedness measures for a possible flood situation in the Chenab River, directing all departments to remain on high alert and ensure coordinated emergency response.
The meeting was attended by assistant commissioners and representatives from Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, the Irrigation, Agriculture, education, Health and Livestock departments, Traffic Police, municipal committees and the District Council.
Officials briefed the deputy commissioner on their respective preparedness plans. District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Tahira Khan presented details of rescue arrangements, mock exercises and other emergency response activities.
Reviewing contingency plans, the deputy commissioner ordered all departments to keep rescue, relief and evacuation mechanisms fully operational and to ensure continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>She emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens remained the district administration's top priority and directed officials to utilize all available resources for a timely and effective response to any emergency.
The meeting also reviewed the availability of flood relief camps, heavy machinery, rescue equipment, medical services, clean drinking water, food supplies, livestock protection measures and communication systems. Rizwan instructed the relevant departments to strengthen inter-agency coordination, keep field teams active and closely monitor the water level in the Chenab River. She also urged the public to avoid rumors, rely only on official information and follow the district administration's instructions in the event of an emergency.
