Chiniot to launch four-day anti-polio drive targeting over 295,000 children

CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) A meeting to review preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Chiniot Ayesha Rizwan on Thursday, with participation from officials of the health department, WHO, education sector and other relevant institutions.

During the briefing, Khalil informed the Deputy Commissioner that a four-day district-wide campaign would commence from April 13, aiming to vaccinate 295,263 children against polio. The scale of the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to eradicating the virus from the region.

Officials, including the Chief Officer Health and District Health Officer (DHO), also briefed the meeting on operational arrangements. A total of 1,467 polio teams will be deployed in the field to ensure maximum outreach and effective coverage.

Ayesha Rizwan directed all departments to finalize preparations well in advance and ensure seamless implementation of the campaign. She emphasized coordinated efforts and strict monitoring to achieve complete immunization targets across the district.
