Cleanliness on Eid: Punjab govt completes 103% target

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th May, 2026) During Eid-ul-Azha, the Punjab government set a new record of public service in cleanliness and security operations and completed 103 percent target.

Clean Punjab Program and Punjab Safe Cities Authority jointly completed the cleanliness and security operations across the province, while Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif personally monitored the ongoing operations throughout the province.

All the commissioners, deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners of the province remained present in the field despite the intense heat, while Eid gatherings and densely populated areas were continuously monitored through Safe City cameras and drone technology.

According to officials, special cleaning of mosques, Eidgahs and main highways was carried out since the Eid eve, while places of worship were also perfumed with rose water.

With the help of Safe City drone cameras, garbage was immediately identified in narrow streets and markets, and sanitation teams took timely action and transferred the garbage to collection points.

According to the Punjab government, more than 120,000 tons of waste was collected on the first day of Eid-ul-Azha, while Suthra Punjab teams covered an area of more than 1.881 million square kilometers. More than 1,000 kilometers of roads were washed and cleaned across the province.

Citizens paid tribute to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her team for the successful cleaning and security arrangements.
