KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Sindh Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Wednesday, stated that the system for collecting taxes on property transfers at the local council level is being fully digitized and simplified.
The local government, Board of Revenue, and the three major banks are being interconnected through a unified online system, making the tax collection process more efficient and reliable, he highlighted, while addressing a ceremony held here for signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Sindh Bank, National Bank of Pakistan and Bank of Punjab, said a statement issued.
Upgrading the existing tax collection system in line with modern requirements and its integration with the online system of the Board of Revenue will make the process of property transfer faster, easier, and more transparent, the LG minister said, adding that direct collection of stamp duty and other taxes will strengthen local councils financially and improve their performance.
The collaborative initiative utilizing modern technology to improve public service delivery will not only enhance transparency but also help eliminate corruption, he said and emphasized that the online collection system for property tax is a major facilitation by the Sindh Government for both the public and local councils.
He thanked all public and private institutions for their cooperation in the project and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promote transparency, good governance, and modern systems.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, formal agreements were signed between the relevant institutions, paving the way for the practical implementation of the project.
The ceremony was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh on Science and Information Technology Ali Rashid, Secretary Local Government Dr. Waseem Shamshad, Senior Member Board of Revenue Syed Khalid Haider Shah, Member Board of Revenue Nazir Ahmed Qureshi, Vice President NBP Faisal Nawaz, Head of Transactions BoP Sharjeel Raza, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sindh Bank Syed Asad Ali Shah, along with other senior officials.
