Commissioner, DIG Hazara review security arrangements for Ashura procession in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Hazara Commissioner Fayaz Ali Shah and DIG Hazara Nasir Mahmood Satti on Friday visited the main 10th Muharram procession route in Abbottabad to review security arrangements, including surveillance through drone cameras.

During the visit, the two senior officials met religious scholars, members of the Peace Committee, Shia procession organizers and media representatives.

District Police Officer (DPO) Abbottabad Haroon Rashid Khan briefed them on the comprehensive security and administrative measures put in place for the Ashura procession.

Commissioner and DIG appreciated the efforts of the district administration and police in ensuring the peaceful observance of Ashura. They expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and acknowledged the cooperation of religious leaders, procession organizers and members of the Peace Committee.

Speaking to reporters, DIG Hazara Nasir Mahmood Satti said Hazara Police had made foolproof security arrangements across all three districts of Hazara Division for Muharram-ul-Harram. He said a heavy police deployment had been made along procession routes and security personnel remained fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation.

He praised all schools of thought in the Hazara Division for their positive role in maintaining peace and harmony during Muharram, adding that their cooperation had significantly contributed to the peaceful atmosphere.

The DIG reiterated that the police would not allow any anti-social elements to spread sectarianism or disturb law and order, and vowed to take strict action against anyone attempting to disrupt peace.
