ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Commissioner Hazara Division on Thursday directed all district administrations and relevant departments to remain on high alert and to take concrete measures for public safety following a severe heatwave alert issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) during the Eid holidays.
According to the advisory, temperatures across Hazara Division are expected to remain 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal from May 25 to May 31, with Haripur likely to experience temperatures between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius, while Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan and Torghar may record temperatures between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius.
The Commissioner instructed authorities to take immediate steps to protect citizens, crops and livestock from the possible impacts of extreme weather conditions.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Hospitals have been directed to keep heatstroke centers, cooling points and emergency medical facilities fully operational, while Rescue 1122, Fire Brigade and other emergency services have been asked to remain fully prepared for any emergency situation.
Public awareness campaigns are also being launched to advise citizens, especially children, elderly people and patients, to avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight, increase water intake and adopt precautionary measures during the heatwave.
The district administration has further advised farmers to take protective steps for crops and livestock amid the rising temperatures.
