Commissioner inaugurates tree plantation campaign

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) Commissioner Hazara Division Fayyaz Ali Shah describing tree plantation as a form of ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), formally inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling at the Commissioner House in Abbottabad.

The Commissioner emphasized that tree plantation is extremely important for environmental protection, mitigating the effects of climate change, and securing a safe future for coming generations. He urged every citizen to actively participate in this national duty.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Conservator of Forests, Secretary to the Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners (Revenue & Political), and representatives of the Forest Department.

Addressing the participants, the Commissioner appealed to the public to plant as many saplings as possible during the ongoing campaign and ensure their proper care, stressing that planting alone is not enough, their protection and growth are equally important for lasting results.

Commissioner Shah directed the authorities to prepare a comprehensive divisional-level plan in collaboration with the Forest Department to effectively launch the campaign across Hazara Division. He also called for identifying a specific site (patch) where large-scale plantation would be carried out with the cooperation of university students.

He further stated that coordinated efforts under a unified strategy were essential to make the campaign successful and achieve the set targets. In the end, he urged all departments to promote tree plantation through mutual cooperation and raise public awareness, so that the Hazara region could be turned into a lush green and prosperous area.
