PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud here on Friday visited rain-affected areas including Sardar Colony, Budhni Nala and adjoining localities to assess the situation and oversee relief efforts.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Chief Executive of Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), Director Operations Rescue 1122, District Health Officer Peshawar, Director General Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar and officials from the Irrigation Department and other relevant agencies.

During the visit, the Commissioner reviewed the damage caused by recent rains, drainage situation and the difficulties faced by affected residents. He was briefed by officials about ongoing rescue, relief and sanitation operations.

He issued immediate directives for the provision of tents to affected families and the establishment of public latrines.

He instructed WSSP, Capital Metropolitan Government, and TMAs to urgently improve sanitation conditions in the affected areas and initiate mosquito spray on an emergency basis.

The Commissioner also ordered the immediate cleaning of Budhni Nala and Shahi Katha directing authorities to accelerate efforts for the strengthening and rehabilitation of Shahi Katha. He emphasized launching an operation against encroachments obstructing water flow and directed removal of encroachments to prevent future flooding.

While interacting with residents, he assured them that construction of protective side walls along both sides of Budhni Nala with an estimated cost of Rs. 5 billion and added that tenders would be issued on April 23. He further stated that Rs. 3.7 billion has been approved by the provincial government for the immediate cleaning of Budhni Nala and Shahi Katha.
