Commissioner promises business-friendly environment under CM’s vision

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar said that divisional administration is fully committed to promote business activities and ensure an environment conducive to industrialists and traders in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.

Addressing the Trade and Industrial Associations’ “Economic Conference” as chief guest at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), he said that the administration firmly believes in industrial growth and would ensure provision of all possible facilities through coordinated efforts.

Highlighting economic progress, he said that as many as 880 new industries were registered in Faisalabad during the past 2-2.5 years, generating employment opportunities for over 47,000 people.

He said that consultation with all stakeholders is going on for relocation of industries outside the city. Full facilitation would be provided in this regard, he added.

He said that 80 roads across the city had been targeted for rehabilitation, out of which more than 40 have already been repaired through cold milling while work 30 more roads would commence immediately after Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.

He said that introduction of the “e-Biz portal” has significantly simplified and expedited the issuance of NOCs. The administration would further strengthen traders by forwarding their proposals to higher Federal and provincial forums, he added.

He also announced facilitation for more than 150 industries currently discharging wastewater directly into channels to install wastewater treatment plants.

He said that additional land would be allocated for graveyards in the city while over 1,400 sewage-contaminated ponds identified across the division are being dewatered on war footing, with public welfare schemes proposed for these sites.

Addressing concerns related to Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA), he said that WASA is working on the rehabilitation of its 2,200-kilometer-long sewerage network, covering and maintaining over 150,000 manholes and executing mega projects worth Rs.24 billion for sewerage system upgradation including schemes under the Punjab Development Package.

He made it clear that no government department would be allowed to harass industrialists and traders in the name of inspections. In this connection, Additional Commissioner has been designated as focal person to maintain close coordination with the business community, he added.

The five-hour-long conference was attended by Group Leader Mian Muhammad Idrees, FCCI President Sheikh Farooq Yousaf, Atif Munir Sheikh, Naveed Akram Sheikh, Asim Munir and other office-bearers while presidents and representatives of 54 associations presented proposals for further industrial development.

Traders and industrialists paid tribute to the ongoing public welfare initiatives of the divisional administration in Faisalabad.

FCCI President highlighted objectives of the conference while industrial representatives also expressed their views.

Later, a commemorative shield was presented to divisional commissioner in recognition of his services.
