BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia chaired a review meeting on ongoing development projects under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025–26. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza and Deputy Commissioners of other districts participated via video link, while officers from various departments across the division attended in person. During the meeting, officials from relevant departments briefed the participants on the progress of development schemes in their respective sectors. It was informed that a total of 377 development projects are currently underway across Bahawalpur Division, with an estimated cost exceeding Rs. 147 billion. So far, more than Rs. 37 billion has been spent on these projects.
According to the briefing, 176 schemes are under completion in Bahawalpur district, 140 in Rahim Yar Khan, and 61 in Bahawalnagar, all progressing at varying speeds.
Projects in key sectors including transport, water supply and sanitation, wildlife, and women's development were also reviewed in detail. Officials highlighted that efforts are being made to ensure efficient utilization of funds in new schemes; however, slow progress in some projects was pointed out, prompting concern from the Commissioner.
Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia directed all departments to complete development projects within stipulated timelines and ensure transparent and timely use of funds. He made it clear that delays in public welfare projects would not be tolerated. He further emphasized the need for regular monitoring of both ongoing and new schemes, prompt resolution of bottlenecks, and timely achievement of development targets. Relevant officers were instructed to enhance their performance and prioritize projects that directly benefit the public.
