Commissioner reviews 'Apna Khet Apna Rozgar' scheme

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) A high-level meeting chaired by Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia was held

to review the implementation and progress of the Punjab Government’s flagship “Apna Khet

Apna Rozgar” (Own Farm, Own Livelihood) scheme.

The meeting examined the number of applications received under the program, the scrutiny

process, and other related government measures. The meeting was attended by Deputy

Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza, Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan

Zaheer Anwar Jappa, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalnagar Zulfiqar Ahmad Bhawn, Managing

Director, Cholistan Development Authority (CDA), Additional Commissioner Coordination,

Additional Commissioner Revenue, and other relevant officials. Assistant Commissioners

from all tehsils of the division participated via video link.

Participants were given a detailed briefing on the applications received under the scheme

and the progress of their processing. Officials informed the meeting that the initiative was

launched in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to empower

landless farmers and create better livelihood opportunities within the agricultural sector.

According to the briefing, a substantial number of online applications have been received

across the division. Bahawalpur district has recorded 59,642 applications, while 13,127

applications have been received from Rahim Yar Khan and 14,330 from Bahawalnagar.

The Commissioner was also briefed on the scrutiny, verification, and evaluation processes

currently underway, as well as the upcoming stages of implementation.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia described the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar”

scheme as a revolutionary initiative aimed at empowering landless farmers and strengthening

the agricultural economy. He directed officials to complete the scrutiny and verification of

applications as quickly as possible so that deserving beneficiaries could receive the

scheme’s benefits without delay.

He emphasized the need for transparency, efficiency, and integrity in implementing public

welfare initiatives and instructed all officers concerned to perform their duties with dedication

and professionalism. “The Punjab Government is providing a golden opportunity for landless

farmers through this scheme,” he said, adding that the initiative would play a significant role

in promoting agricultural growth, improving rural livelihoods, and strengthening the province’s

rural economy.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing development projects across Bahawalpur Division being

implemented under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of “Taraqqi Karta Punjab”

(A Progressing Punjab).

Commissioner Kathia directed all relevant departments to ensure that development projects

were completed within the stipulated period and according to prescribed quality standards

so that the public could benefit from improved services and infrastructure at the earliest

opportunity.
