LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Marryam Khan along with Deputy Commissioner Ali Ijaz visited MM Alam Road on Saturday to review the ongoing operation aimed at removing extra electric poles and eliminating hanging wires in the city.
During the visit, officials were briefed that more than 20 transformers are being shifted while over 50 extra electric poles are being removed from the road as part of the initiative. The operation includes shifting transformers from poles to mounted pads, with heavy machinery deployed and field teams actively engaged.
The briefing was attended by senior officials including Rai Asghar, Chief Engineer LESCO Faisal Zakria, and President MM Alam Road Mian Saleem, who informed that the field operations had been launched after thorough consultation with all stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said that strict implementation of government directives regarding removal of extra poles would be ensured, adding that a phased operation to eliminate hanging wires across the city was also underway. She added that the removal of extra poles and unplanned wiring would not only improve electricity transmission and facilitate maintenance and restoration of transformers but would also enhance the city’s beautification.
Marryam Khan said that dangling and disorganized cables pose serious safety risks and negatively affect the beauty of urban areas, emphasizing that the ongoing measures would contribute to a safer and more organized city environment.
