BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia visited the office of Cholistan Development
Authority (CDA) and reviewed the progress of Punjab Government’s flagship welfare initiative,
“Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” (Own Farm, Own Livelihood) Scheme.
During his visit, he assessed the scrutiny process of applications received under the scheme
and received a detailed briefing on overall implementation progress.
Officials briefed the Commissioner on the application verification process, various stages of
the computerized balloting procedure, and the proposed distribution of agricultural land in
Cholistan. They informed him that applications from landless farmers and rural families continue
to be received under the scheme, reflecting strong public interest in the initiative.
According to the briefing, a total of 52,158 applications had been received from various areas
of Cholistan. Of these, 8,125 applications were approved, 5,328 were rejected, while the scrutiny
of 38,705 applications was still underway.
A district-wise breakdown presented during the meeting revealed that in Yazman Cholistan,
37,595 applications were submitted for 7,423 plots. Among these, 4,664 applications had been
approved, 2,699 were rejected, while 30,232 remain under review. In Fort Abbas Cholistan,
9,037 applications were received for 9,261 plots. So far, 1,858 applications were approved,
1,595 were rejected, and 5,584 applications were currently under scrutiny. Similarly, in Liaquatpur
Cholistan of Rahim Yar Khan district, 5,526 applications had been submitted.

still being examined.
Addressing the officials, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia stated that empowering landless farmers
in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif remains one of the
government's foremost priorities. He described the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” scheme as a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening the rural economy, increasing agricultural productivity, and providing
dignified livelihood opportunities to unemployed and underprivileged families.
The Commissioner directed officials to complete the scrutiny and verification process at the earliest
while ensuring complete transparency and strict adherence to merit. He emphasized that deserving
beneficiaries should receive the scheme’s benefits without delay. He further instructed all officers
concerned to maintain the highest standards of fairness and transparency throughout every stage
of implementation, warning that negligence or procedural lapses would not be tolerated.
“The Punjab Government is providing a golden opportunity for landless farmers,” he said, adding that
the initiative would enable thousands of rural families to move toward economic self-sufficiency and
long-term financial stability.
Commissioner Kathia urged officials to perform their duties with dedication, professionalism, and
integrity so that the benefits of this landmark welfare program reach genuine beneficiaries and
contribute to sustainable rural development across the region.
