Commissioner reviews security of Peshawar Varsity, orders infrastructure improvements

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud here on Friday visited University of Peshawar where he inspected proposed locations for modern entry and exit points aiming enhancing campus security.

During the visit, officials told that advanced scanners would be installed at the University and the entry and exit system would be upgraded to meet international standards.

The Commissioner directed that entry and exit points should be established at appropriate distances within the university premises to ensure that traffic flow on Jamrud Road remains unaffected and citizens do not face inconvenience. He emphasized that maintaining a balance between security measures and traffic management is essential.

Later, the Commissioner visited Palosi Road and Forest Bazaar and instructed the concerned authorities to take immediate steps for road construction, effective drainage systems and smooth traffic flow in the area.

He also directed the construction of a covering over the main drain to facilitate road widening and ordered that manholes be properly covered to address public issues.

The Commissioner also directed Deputy Director of the Peshawar Uplift Program to prepare the PC-1 at the earliest for the improvement of Palosi Road so that development work can formally begin. He expressed satisfaction that under Peshawar Uplift Program, work has already been carried out to improve the infrastructure and beautification of Palosi Road. He reaffirmed his commitment to continue efforts to provide better facilities to citizens, improving traffic systems and eliminating encroachments across the city.
