Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Commissioner Dera Division Daud Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Division Ghulam Mubashir Mekan conducted a joint visit to various Imambargahs and Muharram procession routes in Dera Ismail Khan to review security arrangements ahead of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Deputy Commissioner Dera Hikmatullah Wazir, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ziauddin Ahmed, SP City, DSP City, Chairman Peace Committee Abdul Haleem Qasoria and other civil and police officials accompanied them during the visit.
On the occasion, DPO Ziauddin Ahmed briefed the Commissioner and the RPO on the comprehensive security plan devised for Muharram-ul-Haram. The briefing covered deployment of police personnel at central processions and religious gatherings, installation of CCTV cameras, security checkpoints and other preventive measures aimed at ensuring foolproof security.
The Commissioner and the RPO also met with organisers and caretakers of various Imambargahs and discussed security-related matters in detail. They assured them that the district administration and police were utilising all available resources to ensure the safety and security of mourners during Muharram.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Speaking on the occasion, the officials stressed the importance of maintaining inter-sect harmony, religious tolerance and an atmosphere of brotherhood. They reiterated the administration's commitment to preserving peace and taking strict action against elements attempting to disrupt law and order.
Chairman Peace Committee Abdul Haleem Qasoria and other participants appreciated the measures taken by the district administration and police and assured their full cooperation in maintaining peace during the holy month.
During the visit, Commissioner Daud Khan and RPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan also interacted with police officers and personnel deployed at various security points. They lauded their dedication and directed them to remain on high alert throughout Muharram.
The RPO instructed the personnel to remain vigilant, keep a close watch on suspicious individuals and unattended objects, and deal with the public courteously to ensure a timely response to any untoward incident.
The district administration and police reaffirmed their resolve to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram and maintain law and order across the district.
