SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi on Tuesday visited Gambat and chaired a meeting at the Assistant Commissioner’s office to review preparedness against potential Mpox cases.

The meeting was briefed by Assistant Commissioner Gambat, Salahuddin Ghumro and other officials on the formation, training, and performance of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs). It was highlighted that three RRTs have been established in each tehsil under the supervision of Assistant Commissioners, comprising health officials, veterinary doctors and representatives from local government and education departments.

Commissioner Qureshi directed the teams to intensify public awareness campaigns, leveraging Lady Health Workers and revenue department officials.

He also emphasized promoting emergency control room contact numbers for public convenience and ensuring strict adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols in healthcare facilities.

The commissioner stressed adopting an effective referral mechanism for confirmed Mpox cases and ensuring timely vaccination campaigns for livestock amid climate change concerns. The meeting affirmed that the district administration and relevant departments will collaborate to safeguard public health.
