LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Chairperson Sarah Ahmad has stated that the protection of workers’ rights is the foundation of a civilized society.
In her message issued in connection with Labour Day on Friday, she said, “Child labor is a serious social issue, and coordinated efforts are essential for its eradication.”
The Chairperson said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had issued clear instructions to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against child labor. In line with the Chief Minister vision, every child must be provided equal opportunities for education, protection, and a better life, and strict action would be taken against those who violate the law in this regard.
She said child labor not only violates children’s fundamental rights but also hinders their secure future.
She added that the Child Protection Bureau was taking comprehensive measures across the province for the protection, rehabilitation, and education of children so that no child is forced into labor.
She further stated that a resolution presented in the Punjab Assembly last year emphasized the complete elimination of child labor, strict enforcement of laws, and effective coordination among relevant institutions.
She said, “the purpose of this resolution is to ensure a safe, dignified, and bright future for children.”
Furthermore, the Chairperson appealed to the public, civil society, and all relevant institutions to support the government in eliminating child labor and to immediately report any violations to the concerned authorities so that together, a safe and prosperous society can be built.
